What’s up guys! It’s been so nice to go on a little weekend getaway, but that Coachella sickness is real and it hit me like a ton of bricks. I’m officially in the second to last quarter of my MBA program, and am finally getting caught up with life again. I’m so excited to share this post because I wanted to do a recap of Coachella Weeknd 1, and give you guys a glimpse of what my entire experience was like.
Weather: Last year, it was scorching hot and almost unbearable. This year, it was still in the high 80s and 90s, and pretty hot during the day. But there was a breeze throughout the day/night, and it actually got cold at some point in the night. But with all the people and dancing, it was pretty nice overall.
People: It was definitely more crowded than before, but the rearrangement of the stages, especially Sahara made it seem more spacious in a way. The boo and I had VIP tickets, but the experience was definitely not the same because the VIP section by the main stage was super packed this year and it didn’t feel as ‘exclusive’ as before. Other than that, there were good vibes all around and everyone is always friendly at the festival. But then again, I was with my sister, who makes friends with strangers all the time lol.
Music: All of the performances this year were A M A Z I N G !!!! Coachella is known for having the dopest guest appearances, but this year definitely took the cake. Every artists brought out multiple guests and it was incredible. My all-time favorite performance was the Weeknd because the 18 year old me came out and I was totally fangirling lol. I’ve always wanted to see him live, and seeing him at Coachella for the first time is a moment I’ll cherish forever. Not gonna lie, I got a little emotional during his set, but only because I was literally living my best life! Other than that, Cardi B was so cute and funny, Chance the Rapper is my current crush, Beyoncé killed it as always, and Eminem brought out 50 cent and all of my childhood memories came flashing back (I have two older brothers fyi).
Food: I don’t remember eating much at the festival last year, but this year, we tried several venues and they were all decent. From VIP, I tried pizza pockets and fried risotto. It was good, but pricey. My girlfriend is a huge fan of Eminem so she was determined to try Mom’s Spaghetti and from what I heard, it was pretty bomb.
Fashion: Okay, the most important topic of this post? Lol as we all know, Coachella is most known for its Bohemian/desert vibes when it comes to style. Each year, I look forward to pulling inspiration from festival trends and seeing how creative people can get. I have to admit, coming up with my theme/style for the event is so exciting and fun! But personally, I like to prioritize being comfortable above all else. It was really interesting to see people break out of the norm because I noticed a lot of girls incorporating fishnets and risqué pieces. In the past, this would be too rave-like for Coachella. But now, I think anything goes – as long as you know how to rock it comfortably, and just have fun with it.
All in all, it really doesn’t matter where you’re going or what’re you’re doing, it’s who you’re with. I’m glad I got to be there for my sister’s (and some of our friends’) first Coachella experience. I’m also thankful that our group of friends were so fun and down to earth! I already can’t wait for next year!
Have you ever been to Coachella? Tag the #bestie you’d like to go with! & I’d love to hear your feedback on trends you would rock!
Until next time xo
